Get Resources to Help Your Loved One

Talk to someone who’s been through this before, with lived experience dealing with a substance use disorder. Get your questions answered, understand what to expect as your loved one goes through their treatment and recovery journey, and find ways to feel less alone and more hopeful in dealing with this stressful situation.

Pathway to Care and Recovery Campaign Hotline: In Allegheny County, Pathway to Care and Recovery is the organization designated to be one of the main “front doors” to access SUD treatment and recovery services. Call 412-325-7550 to talk to a certified peer, 24/7, who has been the through SUD treatment and recovery process.

Onala Recovery Center: This is a full-service, public resource center for individuals and families dealing with alcohol and drug addictions. Onala’s certified trainers will be offering Narcan training and kits at a series of community-based information sessions co-sponsored with our BIPOC-led provider partners. Follow our social media (@ConnectProtectRecover) to find out when a training is scheduled at a location near you.

Get Harm Reduction Resources to Help Your Loved One

Get tools that can save your loved one struggling with addiction from an overdose situation, such as Narcan or fentanyl test strips. The County’s Department of Human Services and Health Department both have a range of free and accessible resources for harm reduction and SUD treatment.

Get Narcan Kits

Get free, lifesaving kits of Naloxone (brand name Narcan)
from the Allegheny County Health Department.

Go to this link www.tinyurl.com/oppnarcan to order Narcan to have on hand in case a loved one or friend goes into overdose. You can also call 412-209-2274 or email overdoseprevention@alleghenycounty.us to place an order.

Orders placed before 3 PM Monday through Friday are available for pick-up at the Health Department the same day. Otherwise, orders will be fulfilled the following business day.

Some orders can be delivered to residents with transportation challenges, either by the Health Department or one of its community partners near you. Indicate your needs on the order form.

Get Narcan Training

Get Fentanyl and Xylazine Test Strips

Test strips allow a user to test their drugs for the presence of fentanyl or xylazine, dangerous and powerful opioids which can cause an overdose. Like Narcan, free test strips can be ordered from the Allegheny County Health Department.
